I'm SO excited about the Vintage Fair 2012 (VF2012) that runs from August 4th until August 29th! We're all in for a treat because the list of participating designers is pretty handsome and plenty hefty. There are over 250 of them! Use this page and this page to keep up with the VF2012! The latter page is the home page for the CHIC Management website; thus, you can use it to keep up with updates from CHIC in general.

Remember that quest I was on for a "truly" dark skin? Well, I'd found The Skinnery, somehow, and noticed the Sagal skin. Ebony was the darkest tone of any of Uma's skins. Upon trying it on, it was confirmed to me that it was simply not dark enough for my tastes. This is when I contacted Umazuma (Uma!) and asked if she'd make Sagal in a darker tone. Thus, the "onyx" tone for this skin was born! I appreciate VERY much that Uma made this darker tone just because I asked for it. This should show you, my dear readers, that although creators/designers may seem inaccessible, some of them are very responsive and approachable! Of course, I'm not saying that designers should be harassed. However, if there is something you want, it is well worth the shot of contacting the designer and asking. What can you lose? 

Unfortunately, I haven't seen the onyx tone in skins released after Sagal. I would have loved to see the onyx tone become a permanent fixture to Uma's skin line, but... maybe later? For 1000L, you get nine skins (three amounts of cleavage times three brow options - no brow, light brow, and dark brown), three eyebrow shapers, pubic hair add-ons (underpants and tattoo layers), eyeshadow and bunny (or as it's spelled in the folder, "bunneh") teeth.

Tidal is for men! However, it's so androgynous. And doesn't it look grand on Inferna? I think so! I love this hair! It's taken me forever to wear this skin because I hadn't found the right hair for it. I think this hair perfectly "offers up" the face of Sagal.

I purchased the Lem Clutch for only 50L! I actually bought two of them. PRISS was having a closing sale, and I snatched this up as quickly as possible. I'm sad to see PRISS go. It's been one of my favorite stores since it debuted. I've been a fan every since I found the then-brand new store during a hunt.

Matchbook Monday made us a tie! You probably know the drill by now - you can resize this thing, you can retexture the metal, you can retexture the accents, you can retexture the spheres. And, not only that, the pack comes with two types of ties - one using chain and the other using cord. 

Lastly, although Shakeup! isn't closing, it's rebranding (or something to that effect...). This means SALE TIME! Now, I truly don't remember how much I paid for this Lara pack, but 60 lipsticks for only 199L? PFFT! It's a steal, whether it's reduced or retail price. Buy on the MP!

I told myself I wasn't going to purchase the Jen skin. I felt it wasn't dark enough. But it's just such a beautiful creation; I HAD to get it.

This reminds me of something I care dearly about - customer service. I'd contacted the owner of League, Nena Jamus, to ask if she'd make Jen in a darker tone. This request of mine was or was seemingly ignored.

Now, first let me say that Ms. Jamus is CERTAINLY not obligated to respond to me, let alone create another tone of her skin simply because I asked for it. However, a "I'm sorry; I don't think I will satisfy your request" would have been very appreciated. I cannot recount to you just how many creators have at least answered me. Some have even gone so far as to answer my request with an entirely new and separate creation or correct a transaction problem. When I contacted Izzie Button (of Izzie's) and Umazuma Metaluna (of The Skinnery), both responded and created darker tones of their skins. I am forever grateful to both of them because ... I am but ONE customer out of, I'm sure, so many. In the grand scheme of things, I couldn't matter that much. But they surely treated me as if I matter. They didn't have to, but they did! Thank goodness for those designers who regard their customers as not only that but people.

That said, the Jen skin is breathtaking. I could stare at Jen all day. She comes in six tones; I am wearing feline Jen in the dark tone. Each pack (distinguished by makeups, such as "Feline") comes with six skins (three different cleavages, each with and without a dark hairbase), nail base (in glove and tattoo layers), landing strip (in glove and tattoo layers), freckles, two cleavage dehancers (in undershirt and tattoo layers), matte lipstick, six "blonde" layers (two blonde brow layers, two blonde hairbase layers, and two blonde hairbase and brow layers), and an eyebrow shaper. WOO! You get a lot for 1,195L. 

And what can I say about Amorous? Matchbook Monday, the creator, is so creative, so talented, and EXCELLENT in terms of customer service. People who don't know Amorous don't know one of THE best designers in SL. The textures, the color options, the shapes... perfection.

I fought the mesh trend for so long. I don't despise change, but after I'd read a post on the Phoenix Viewer blog about possible issues, I was very hesitant to try anything mesh. Then, you could always find me highly (and very vocally) resistant to making the change.

But then the promise of NO MORE PRIM SKIRTS persuaded me to think again. I just downright hate prim skirts. Shorts with "fabric" in front of them? Ugh. When my and others' avies move, the legs stretch and warp the texture of the prim. Ew!

After I tried my first mesh item, which was the Yippie hair from Lelutka, the rest was history! I'm a total meshwhore (or meshy whore?) now. I actually prefer mesh over non-mesh items, for the detail and for the simplicity. (Many mesh items, such as dresses, are one piece with no need for multiple clothing layers). 

Don't get me wrong; there are some GREAT non-mesh items, as you've seen. (For instance - and disclaimer; this may be a very premature estimation - I tried Truth's first mesh hair, Janey, and I'm more a fan of their non-mesh hair). But, for the most part, I'm a meshy whore!
