Did you all know that you could easily find the RGB code to any color under your cursor? It's a great tool for matching your gloves layers for nails, body parts and perhaps other items to your skin color! However, I'll tell you what; you do NOT want to leave it on when you are taking pictures. Yours truly FORGOT to uncheck the option, and it was all over the pictures I'd taken. If it weren't for the clone and healing brushes in Photoshop... Sigh...

ANYWAY, there's some deliciousness for you! Let's start with the new LAQ skins from the new Essential line! Oh my goodness, where to start!

I've always loved LAQ skins for, not only the beauty, but how realistic the face and textures are. I could totally eat Elle's nose and Saga's lips. I remember my first LAQ skin, Phoebe. I wore that thing out, and I believe I'll be doing the same for these two.

I'll mention the cost because it will naturally lead to a discussion of the skins' additional features. There are seven skin tones, from 1.0 to 4.0 (1.0, 1.5, 2.0, etc.), each 0.5 upgrade darker than the one before. Each tone costs 1,990L. Now, before, 1,990L bought you 10 skins, each with different makeups (or, actually, 20 skins - ten makeups, hairbase on/off). This time, however, you get only one skin inside the pack. But BEFORE you think, like I did initially, "WHOA! No way!" let me explain why this will be a 1,990L well-spent.

It's LAQ, so you know the quality is going to be insane. In fact, Mallory Cowen (LAQ owner) has made some modifications to the body in the interest of matching real skin even more closely than before. Here's a picture of the mods:

Secondly, the new Essential line brings lots of new options to customize your skin. First, The hairbase are on tattoo layers, instead of being painted on (inseparable from) the actual skin. And there's four hairbases included inside the pack (black, blonde, brown and red). A [non-modifiable] shape is included, which I don't think was the practice before. There are also cleavage layers (undershirt and tattoo layers), an eyebrow shaper, prim eyes, and two eye makeup layers (eyeliner and smokey eye makeup). And I haven't gotten to the most exciting thing about the Essential line! 

Inside each tone pack - and, believe me, I am so happy to tell you about this! - there are what I'd like to call "interchangeables." Let's say you buy Elle in any tone. On top of the aforementioned add-ons, also included in the pack are five "interchangeables" in tattoo-layer form. Those five layers are: eyebrows, eyelids, nose, mouth and lip gloss. If you later bought Saga and decided that you wanted Elle's mouth on her, you could go to your Elle pack and wear Elle's mouth (the tattoo layer) on your Saga skin. Thus, Mallory's given us tools to change our faces! This is such a cool thing. You can believe that I will be playing around with both Elle and Saga, having them sample each other's faces! /mad scientist laugh.
Plus, Mallory indicates on her blog and elsewhere that these interchangeables are the first but not the last. Thus, we might be offered, in the future, even more "virtual plastic surgery" options. Got your scalpel ready?

Also, I'd read that Mallory had received feedback that customers wanted the makeup on tattoo layers, as opposed to included on the skin. Thus, eye makeup and lipsticks can be purchased for $100 each. The eye makeup can be applied to both skins, while the lipsticks are specific to the skin.

Thus, although it may seem as if the cost is a bit steep, you really do get to enjoy benefits of the new Essential skin line that you will not see in other places. Here's where you can go and get your own Elle, Saga or both! Make sure you also read LAQ's blog for more information on the new Essential skin line.

Also, two other things to mention:

First, don't forget about Matchbook Monday's fundraiser, Tomorrow Today! Because she is such an appreciative, unassuming person, she's really thankful for what she's raised thus far. I am also thankful to those who have come out and shown support. However, I'm convinced we can all do so much better for her! Thus far, she's only raised 244,817L! That's a LOT, but considering where she needs to be, we've got some work to do! When Gala had her One Voice fundraiser, the amount raised was phenomenal; it should be the same for this fundraiser and for this cause. I know it can be! So make sure you tell your friends and anyone who will listen! Go to Matchbook's blog to keep up with the going-ons of the event.

Finally, I have updated, added and deleted landmarks and added events to the "Markin' up the Calendar" section. Next, I'd like to add, to that same section, the recurrences for each event.

EDIT: I knew I forgot something! I forgot to tell you how to get to the RGB code-thingy. Enable your Developer menu (this option is in the "Preferences" window. Preferences --> Advanced --> "Show Developer Menu" (tick the box)). Once the Developer menu is enabled, it will appear along with "Avatar," "Comm," "World," etc. at the top of your window. Then, enable Develop --> Show Info --> Show Color Under Cursor.

Also, I recently learned of some "problematic," I'll say, opinions on the Tomorrow Today fundraiser. Oh, the bravery granted by Internet anonymity. Some are making a distinction between Gala's fundraiser and Matchbook's fundraiser. Gala's issue is characterized as a "legal fight," while Matchbook's is simplified down to ... "teeth." If it were a fair discussion to begin with, in that case, it would have been "legal fight" and "hindrance to well-being" OR "virtual skin" and "teeth." But it wasn't compared fairly. Thus, I cannot even take that argument seriously. Second, as in the case of Gala's fundraiser, buyers are not giving away money; they are getting something in return. Want a fatpack of new Truth hair? For 300L, you can have it. Why one would care about anything beyond that baffles the mind. Third, I've seen claims that information provided by Matchbook is not thorough enough. You've seen Matchbook's blog by now; it is replete with information about this situation. Need more? Ask. (In fact, she's planning to add more). Need a picture? Ask. Don't care? Well, don't donate or buy. And certainly don't publicly blast the girl for seeking help.

I can even understand and respect the decision to not donate on the grounds that one does not find the cause worthy (or explained to their liking). But to question Matchbook's "ethics" (dictionaries are our friends) publicly is far too much, especially considering nay-sayers can just IM her and satisfy any burning questions or concerns.

It is hard for me to fathom drawing some meaningless distinction between one person's fundraiser and another's. It doesn't hurt less because one sees it as as less severe / important than another's struggle.

I'm disappointed in those particular responses, sure. But that is certainly not to take away from what has been given and/or purchased so far. We want to keep that up! Great job, and thank you to all those folks! :D

I got this lovely set from Maxi Gossamer from the Tomorrow Today Fundraiser, and it's pretty sweet. You get a long and short version of the necklace, and two rings, one for each hand. All are color-changeable. 18 colors options for the eye (for both necklace and ring), two color options for the necklace chain, six colors for the gems (for both necklace and ring) and two color options for the ring shank.

I'm at the Fundraiser, and there are just NOT enough people here. So let's make it laggy! :P

Neurotic

Neurotic. If I had to use one word to describe myself, neurotic would be it. Since it was announced that Collabor88 would add a blogger to its blogger list, which was around the end of September, I have completed photos then dumped them. Completed then dumped. Completed then dumped. My laptop, of course, is not functional. My fiance let me use his laptop (which is actually an old laptop of mine). But the recommended graphic settings for that one were set at "medium," which was indicative of its crappy performance, for photos and otherwise.

Finally, I said, "You know what? You are NEVER going to get this done." I think anyone who creates anything is super critical of his or her own product, but it was getting to be a bit ridiculous. So. Here it is. I will also show you all the other ones I created for the contest.

Same outfit but I'm standing in the Stockholm Attic from Barnesworth Anubis, offered at the July 2012 round of Collabor88! I wanted the space to suggest more apparently that it was living space, so I added LISP suitcases and some effects from Thistle Homes' Love Letters Desk.

In these two photos, I'm still in the Stockholm Attic. And also in both, I'm wearing the Soft hairstyle from [elikatira] (from November 2011 C88) and the Sailor Shorts from -tres blah- (from February 2012 C88). In the first one, I have on The Sea Hole's Davenport Blouse (from October 2012 C88) and the Hampton Necklace from LaGyo (from July 2012 C88). Then, in the second one, I have on a blazer from House of Fox, socks from Kyoot, and I'm carrying Auxiliary's Tiny Tote (all from  September 2012 C88). Finally, I'm wearing a necklace from Maxi Gossamer (from August 2012 C88).

Obviously, I was BENT on staying in my dear Stockholm Attic. But once my fiance bought and installed a graphics card upgrade, I was really enjoying seeing shadows for the first time. It's amazing how much pop that little "lighting and shadows" option grants to a photo!

I also have two other photos, but I didn't edit one of them, and I mistakenly deleted the other from Blogger, so I would need to get back on fiance's computer to get it. I suppose they don't matter anyway; I'm only submitting the very first picture in this blog entry. I was just meaning to show you how indecisive and crazy I am. :P

I'm working a bit, so that's why it's been NINE days since I posted last. However, I had to stop by to show you a few things!

First, here's the new skin from vive9, Maliah! I purchased her in the darkest tone available, which is SPF308, aka DeepExpresso. Maliah is SO beautiful! The bone structure is out of this world. The lips need no cosmetics, but there are some available, of course! I've dressed her in many things since I got her yesterday, but this is the most fitting getup so far. She's got a really innocent look, and so she looked odd, to me, in my SWAG stuff. I'm very interested in seeing what other bloggers do with her. I'm sure she's already been dressed up in so many ways; I've just got to get around to viewing them! So there are the nine usual suspects (skin tone packs), and each package, you get five skins (the base skin; three with light brown, brown and black brows; and one with no brows), an eyebrow shaper, six beauty mark layers, a freckles layer, a cat-eye makeup layer, and a deep blush layer! That's for 1,095L. Then, there are makeup (eye AND lip) and cleavage add-ons. I bought a line of the lipsticks for 175L, with three lipsticks inside of the pack. I have a feeling that I will wear this skin out; I'm just warning you! 

Then, there's the Boho Culture Fair, which starts on October 15th! I'm really excited about this fair. I haven't seen much of what will be offered there, but, as you can see, there's going to be some really nice stuff. Do you know what my favorite brand is? It's Free People. NO ONE likes to go to Belk with me anymore because they KNOW I'm headed to the FP section, and I'm going to be there for a while. Free People stuff is exactly the type of stuff I'm hoping to see at the Fair!

It's been a while! Or, by my standards, it's been a while. I've been working a bit, so I've been on SL less.

ANYWAY. Enough of the excuses. O.M.G. Indyra Seigo has delivered to us the almighty Vicereine. As you can see, it's elegant, picturesque, sexy and dark. Besides these, it is flexible. Vicereine allows you to be several different girls. As Indyra describes it, there's something for the "uncommon Vamptress." Here, I'm regal and mysterious. Below, I'm misbehaved and inviting.

Paired with the lingerie is the Renata hair in Dusky from GOTZSCHE for Fameshed (until September 29th); the Zodiac Necklace (Sagittarius) from Amorous and two of the three bracelets in the NEW "Bangled," also from Amorous; Lethal Couture's NEW Lightning Bolt Pumps in Black; the Bizarre Flower ring from LaGyo at the August C88 collection; and Soiree's La Creme Lipstick in Punish!

And there's also a pant suit! So you'd use the pants and the flared pant cuffs instead of the gown.

I may have lost count, but I counted 46 different articles of clothing in the pack. 46 = endless fun.

And, I kid you not, you'll only have to "give up" 795L for such beautiful and versatile attire. That is a really fair price, considering not only what you get but what you can make out of your set.

So, remember when I said that B L E U had no inworld store and only a MP one? Well... I LIED! Jelani has created an inworld store in which you can find all of her pretty, shiny things. YAY!

The Lightning Bolt Pumps are available in ten colors, and they are all wonderful. My favorite part about the shoes are the heels, which are color-change! You can change the heels to 12 different colors; I'd like to think you could accentuate any color (or match colors) in your outfit with that range of customization!

Aaaaaaand the Mesh Rag and Bone pants come in five colors and mesh sizes XS, S, M, L and XL.

I wanted to participate in the Mon Tissu contest; I've more than enough MT items in the ol' inventory. However, I just don't have the resources (aka LINDEN) to accessorize the way I wanted and needed to. BUT! This did not stop me from "securing" these awesome jeans. At first, I thought "you have PLENTY of MT clothes; you need MT accessories." And I only had about 300L at the time. But, in the end, these jeans won me over. Thus, I forfeited the lovely fedora here that I really wanted... and the shoes I wanted... and the boots I wanted. Another time, maybe... But I don't regret getting these jeans; they are SO SO perfect. These are my first mesh jeans, and I ain't lookin' back!

I do wish those who can and will compete the best of luck! 

These jeans have belt loops / no belt loops versions for two cuff fits (flats and heels), so you get a total of four versions in five mesh sizes. The fit is pretty damned awesome. I WISH there were jeans that did for my body what these jeans do for Inferna!

I don't think enough people know about Vaughan's House of Curiosities, a wonderful shop of random must-haves! There's hair, there are clothes, hats and even robots! There's a bit of everything at Vaughan's, AND the owner, Marleen Vaughan is a TOTAL sweetheart. THAT always makes a spendid shop even more so. So get on over dur! My favorite there has GOT to be the quirky, versatile hair.

I don't have a SLurl for :) BCC at the VF2012. However, I do plan to "notecard" vitamingirl to ask if she's got a direct SLurl to her booth at the Fair. Then, as always, I'll update.

Finally, you can find this furniture set - and so much more, at LEAST 40 things - from Melu Deco at the VF2012! It's so sleek and pretty and fitting for what I'm wearing. Well, actually, I wanted to blog this set, so the outfit came together just for the furniture. And I have to be the luckiest SL resident ever! Melusina Parkin, owner of Melu Deco, is another total sweetheart. She has been way nicer to me than I have deserved!

I say those things about designers not to brag but to tell you, once again, that, from my experience, designers in SL are friendly, receptive to suggestions and eager to help you. I have not run into a nasty designer yet, and I send a LOT of NCs and IMs.
